Bio

Eric Takukam, born in Bameka in 1983 in western Cameroon, is a digital artist and professional graphic designer. He holds a BTS (Higher Technician Certificate) in Audiovisual Communication obtained from the Siantou Supérieur Institute in Yaoundé in 2004, where he was the top national student in his class. After more than sixteen years of experience in communication as an art director, he has dedicated himself entirely to artistic creation since 2020. Specializing in digital art, he creates paintings and installations.

Eric Takukam has been influenced by artists such as Keith Haring, the Nigerian Laolu, and the South African Esther Mahlangu. He loves lines and details. Inspired by his rural adolescence, the artist, who defines himself as a "villager-city dweller," "brings the village to the city" through original creations inspired by the Bamileke elephant mask, but also and above all by his "trombHommes" (man-trunks). These particular characters were inspired by his son during an educational exercise session at home. They represent the strong love between the artist and his son, but also the interconnectedness between man and all entities surrounding him. Eric draws inspiration from his personal experiences and the values of village life to create works that celebrate love, sharing, unity, environmental respect, and autism awareness.

He exhibited at the Annie Kadji gallery in Douala between June and July 2022 on the theme Digital Spirit. In 2014, he participated in the "Living Together" project at the French Institute of Chad, where he exhibited his works in the eight districts of N'Djamena. In 2013, he was featured as an aspirational artist in the Art section of CM2 French textbooks by Éditions Nathan France.

2 illustrations are presented for the UKUTA LAB project. Limited edition of 10 copies per work.
